Student Engagement & Ratios of Interactions

We all know a great classroom when we see one but how do we go about fostering that type of environment for professionals that may need additional supports? Our tool assists with the recording a few of the contributing factors that educational researchers have identified that contribute to that environment: ratio of interactions (positive to negative), percentage of student engagement, opportunities for student responses, and classroom disruptions.

Within 10-15 minutes you can give your teachers, or colleagues, accurate feedback related to these measures for your time in the classroom. Simply use the plus and minus icons as you scan the room looking for indicators of passive engagement for each student. As you're entering these be aware of the opportunities for students to respond and when the teacher interacts with specific students (if the student behavior is appropriate it's a positive interaction, if they are off task or misbehaving it's a negative interaction).

Our software compiles all of these numbers and sends an email to the teacher, and observer, with their ratio of positive to negative interactions, percentage of students on task, opportunities to respond, major/minor disruptions and any notes that you may add.
